What are Hematology/Oncology Services?

Hematology/oncology services are services centered on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of blood diseases and blood-related cancers.   • Assessment:We evaluate the patient’s physical condition and needs. We provide systematic monitoring of vital signs and notification of changes in patient condition through nursing visits.
  • Lab Work: We performlab draws ordered by physicians, along with in-home PT/INR tests.
  • Medication/Pain Management:We provide coaching in application of medications and recognition of abnormal reactions. We add medications to pain pumps and instruct about management and tolerance of pain.
  • Teach & Instruct: We teach patient and family about signs/symptoms of disease process, medications, administrations, action & side effects of chemotherapy.

  • Therapy:Our therapy helps manage lymphedema and other forms of edema.
  • IV Therapy:We provide IV therapy for the purpose of: antibiotics, chemotherapy, antiemetics, and hydration.
  • Injections:Injections are given to help manage pernicious anemia
  • Medical Social Services:IPR provides referral to and helps coordinate community resources
  • Psychological Support:We provide counseling by a psych nurse.
  • Low-Vision Rehabilitation: For patients diagnosed with low vision impairment, our occupational therapists will help develop a program to assist the patient in becoming independent with necessary activities of daily living.
