Dr. Brian Bruel is a distinguished Interventional Pain Medicine Specialist and Physiatrist with a comprehensive background in pain management and rehabilitation. He currently serves as the Medical Director for IPR Healthcare Inc. and is affiliated with Cy-Pain & Spine. Prior to his current roles, Dr. Bruel was a tenured Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he held the position of Director of Pain Medicine and Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He also served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pain Medicine, Division of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Bruel’s medical training includes an internship in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, followed by a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine, where he was named Chief Resident. His exceptional teaching skills earned him the Outstanding Resident Teacher of the Year and the Resident Achievement Award. He completed his Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2007.

Board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Obesity Medicine, Dr. Bruel is highly regarded in his field. He is a member of the North American Neuromodulation Society and the Texas Pain Society, where he currently serves as President. Additionally, he is one of the founders of the Cancer Pain Research Consortium, where he previously served as President.

Dr. Bruel has earned numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Faculty Clinical Achievement Award from Baylor College of Medicine, recognition as a Best Doctor in America, Castle Connolly Top Doctor, and Texas Monthly’s Rising Star in PM&R. His clinical and research interests focus on neuromodulation for pain and spasticity, cancer survivorship pain, and minimally invasive spine interventions.
